Molly Hatchet fans jammed out at the Palatka riverfront Friday as the Jacksonville rock band kicked off the three-day Blue Crab Festival.

Despite the overcast and chilly breeze, visitors started strolling down St. Johns Avenue when the festival began at 6 p.m., visiting vendors and snacking on blue crabs along the way.

Vendors will be at the festival today starting at 10 a.m. Pak’s Karate will start performances on the festival's main stage at 11 a.m., according to the festival’s website, and a fireworks display at the riverfront will occur at 8:45 p.m.

Hip hop duo Ying Yang Twins will close out the day’s performances at 9:05 p.m.

The final day of Blue Crab opens at noon Sunday, and the Gatorland Deluxe Waterski Show will begin at 12:30 p.m. by the main stage, the festival schedule states.

Hip-hop group Sugar Hill Gang will end this year’s event with an 8:45 p.m. performance at the main festival stage.
