Christmas events lined up for weekend

Municipalities across Putnam County are getting into the holiday spirit.

Throughout the area this weekend, there will be parades, festivals and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Listed below are some of the events set to take place this weekend.

 

Friday

– Christmas Caroling at Palmetto Hall in Florahome: Florahome Park & Heritage Association members are hosting a Christmas event starting at 6 p.m. at Palmetto Hall, 102. S. Magnolia Ave. It promises to be an evening of hot chocolate, Christmas caroling, cookies and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

 

Saturday

– Children of all ages are invited to the St. Johns River Center, 102 N. First St. in Palatka, from noon to 3 p.m. Take photos with Santa Claus and the Grinch.

City officials will have a photographer at the event but people are allowed to take their own photos to share with family and friends.

– The Crescent City Animal Health Center, 125 Lake Grove Drive, will have a day of face painting, crafts, snacks and a visit from Santa Claus.

Families are invited to attend the free event, which lasts from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

– People can attend a winter market at Bar O Rodeo Estates, 126 Radcliff Road, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Attendees can check out vendors, listen to live music, take photos with Santa and feed cows.

– The Bonnie Melrose Christmas Festival will take place from 2–8 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park, 300 State Road 26.

There will be gift vendors, free crafts for children and food trucks. Photos with Santa will take place from 3–5 p.m.

The Parade of Lights will begin at 6 p.m. and travel along State Roads 26 and 21, as well as Pine Street.

Sunday

There will be a Christmas parade in Bardin at 2 p.m. Sunday. More information about the event will be in Saturday’s edition of the Palatka Daily News.
