Harry L. Banks of Crescent City announced his candidacy for the District 1 seat on the Putnam County Board of Commissioners.
A Crescent City man has filed his intent to run for a spot on the Putnam County Board of Commissioners, according to the Supervisor of Elections Office.
Democrat Harry L. Banks submitted his paperwork to the Elections Office on June 23. He is seeking the District 1 seat that County Commissioner Bill Pickens has occupied since winning the 2016 election.
As of Friday evening, Banks – the son of H. Harry Banks, who has served on the Crescent City Commission for nearly 40 years – is the only District 1 candidate, according to the Elections Office’s website.
If no one else files to run for the District 1 seat, Banks will automatically win the election if he qualifies in June 2024.
If another Democrat runs for the seat, Banks will compete against that candidate in the August 2024 primary to determine who will be the Democratic candidate in the Nov. 5, 2024, general election.
