People who want their voices heard in this year’s primary have until Monday to register to vote or switch political parties.

The deadline comes as election workers are preparing for the Aug. 23 primary. Election officials are also preparing for nearly two weeks of early voting.

Eligible Putnam residents can vote early from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8-20 at the South Putnam Government Complex, 115 N. Summit St. in Crescent City; the Interlachen Community Center, 135 S. County Road 315; or the Putnam County Supervisor of Elections Office, 2509 Crill Ave., Suite 900, in Palatka.

People can vote early at any of those three sites, but voters must go to their polling place if they cast their ballots on the day of the primary.

There were already 50,180 registered voters in Putnam County by Friday night, according to the Elections Office, and despite the primary being a month away, there have already been 512 people who have voted by mail.
