A contractor working for the Palatka Public Works Department will begin the resurfacing of the Fifth Street intersection of St. Johns Avenue today.
During the resurfacing process, the intersection and the adjacent stretch of pavement to the east of the intersection will experience intermittent closures throughout the day. To manage traffic flow during these periods, flagging operations will be in effect, guiding motorists safely through the work zone.
The primary objective of this resurfacing project is to address the transition between the crosswalk and the pavement, which was left with irregularities from a prior crosswalk and intersection project.
This work is part of an ongoing project by the city of Palatka and Putnam County to resurface and improve St. Johns Avenue. More details of the project can be found at Palatka-fl.gov.
The Palatka Public Works Department expressed its appreciation for the community’s patience and understanding during this essential maintenance work. All drivers are urged to exercise caution and follow the guidance provided by flagging operations to ensure a safe and efficient traffic flow.
