Local dealership’s performance earns national award

A local car dealership earned “Platinum Blue” status earlier this month based on a “superior performance” in five areas.
Ford Motor Co. awarded Beck Ford in Palatka the status based on the dealership’s warranty claims data.
Wayne McClain, vice president of the Beck Automotive Group, said the dealership’s service department employees were largely responsible for the recognition. The company measures repair cost variance, potential repeat repair and three sections about repair orders.
“This is quite an accomplishment,” McClain said.
General Manager Brian Freeman said completing car repairs properly the first time is one of the biggest components looked at by the company.
He said Service Manager Mark Roser leads the team and does “an outstanding job.”
Freeman said Roser started working at Beck Ford in 1981 as a technician assistant, worked up to full technical status and became manager in 2002.
“Mark wanted everyone to know that this is a true team effort and starts with our awesome techs, diagnosing the customer’s concern correctly, the parts department getting the correct parts and the service writer scheduling the customer’s car in to get the repair,” Freeman said.
“It’s a logistics nightmare sometimes. But Mark and the team pull it off day in and day out. … We are lucky to have Mark here at Beck Ford and are very proud of this most recent award.”
In May, the Palatka dealership received the 2020 President’s Award from Ford Motor Co. for the first time. It’s an award given only to 10% of Ford dealerships in the country.
“It’s a great dealership,” McClain said.
