Atha E. Freeman Roberts, 95, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Palatka Center for Rehabilitation and Healing.

The daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth (White) Freeman and native of Seville, was born on Saturday, December 4, 1926. She was educated in the Putnam and Volusia County School Districts, attending school in Crescent City and Seville. She was a member of Walker Chapel Church of God by Faith. Atha served as a missionary, church mother, Sunday School Teacher, and Secretary. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, and hosting family gatherings. She was employed as a housekeeper for Dr. Bernard Kane’s Family for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sisters, Violet Padgett, Ella Mae Mitchell, Eva Jackson, Alberta Williams, Ethel Nichols; brothers, Rufus, Rayford, Lewis, Eddie.

She leaves to cherish her memories: A host of loving nieces and nephews (whom she adored as her very own sons and daughters) Elder H. Harry (Ruby) Banks, Ralph E. (Susan) Padgett, both of Crescent City; Delores Burnett, Seville; Shirley A. Prince, West Palm Beach; Rose Ella (Jimmy) Giddens, Deland; Cassandra L. Padgett, Debary; Naomi R. Padgett, Port Orange; and Michael (Marlene) Scott, Welaka; Step-son, Bernard “Ben” Bush, Crescent City; goddaughter, Rachel (Otis) Burgess, South Carolina; and other close relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 28 (today), Walker’s Chapel Church of God by Faith, 1109 Huntington Road, Crescent City, FL 32112. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 29, at Mt. Tabor 1st Baptist Church, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City, FL 32112, the Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Elder Emanuel Roberts, Walker Chapel Church of God by Faith, Pastor is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
