Deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Justin Gomez after his girlfriend accused him of attacking her and their child on Saturday.
The 18-year-old victim, whom authorities did not name, told deputies that Gomez threw a brick through her vehicle’s windshield after a “heated argument,” accor-ding to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
Gomez was booked on a charge of throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle, and as of Monday, he was still in jail on $10,004 bond.
Deputies met with the victim at about noon Saturday at 106 Furse Lane in Crescent City to speak with the adult victim, the sheriff’s office reported.
She told authorities that the incident between her and Gomez happened on Michael Drive, which is also in Crescent City.
Near the end of the argument, she alleges, Gomez threw the brick through her car windshield as she was trying to leave the scene of their altercation.
The woman said that the glass from the windshield showered over her and the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gomez left the scene of the dispute, and authorities did not locate him until the next day, according to the sheriff’s office statement.
Deputies spoke with Gomez about the alleged occurrences on Saturday, and they later arrested Gomez, who was booked into the Putnam County Jail shortly after noon on Sunday.
