The Putnam County Board of Commissioners and Sheriff’s Office recognized an agency deputy Tuesday who saved the life of a three-week-old baby in November. 

When 82-year-old Jim Goolsby realized his one-seater airplane’s engine had stalled as he was soaring over Putnam County March 14, his top concern was the future of his plane.

“Oh please, dear God,” a woman’s voice whispered in a 911 call. “He’s in my bedroom. He’s in my bedroom.”
