Two Palatka residents were involved in a crash Saturday that ended with one pedestrian dead, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision reportedly happened at 11:10 p.m. in Clay County.

A pickup truck driven by a 35-year-old Palatka man with a 61-year-old Palatka woman as the passenger had been traveling southbound in the right lane of U.S. 17 near Warner Road, according to the agency’s preliminary investigation.

A male pedestrian, whose city of residency and age have not yet been listed, walked in front of the truck and was struck by the front of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. Both Palatka residents in the truck sustained no injuries and were wearing seatbelts.
