Georgia-Pacific’s Palatka mill is taking steps to prepare for Hurricane Dorian. The mill will temporarily suspend operations late Monday to ensure the safety and well-being of team members and their families.

The mill’s on-shift teams have been making preparations to secure the facility throughout the week as hurricane projections evolved.

“Safety is our highest value at the Palatka mill,” said Mike Griffith, vice president of manufacturing and mill general manager. “We have a severe weather/hurricane plan in place and will follow our procedures as conditions warrant to keep people safe and our facility secure.”

Day shift at the mill reported as scheduled today. However, GP officials said unless team members on later shifts have been contacted to voluntarily report to work today, they should not report to the mill until the facility returns to operations.

Operations will be suspended until conditions are safe. GP team members can receive updates about plant operations and schedules via the mill’s Severe Weather Hotline – 1-800-766-7916 or 1-800-774-8540.
