U.S. Postal Service offices across most of Putnam County will be closed today.

Putnam residents with zip codes that begin with 326 will have mail delivery today. All other local residents are served by post offices that will be closed.

The 326 zip code areas are in the Jacksonville District of postal service. The rest of Putnam County is in the Mid-Florida District, headquartered in Tampa. The postal service does not close only a portion of a district, so Putnam County, at the north end of the Mid-Florida District, is affected by conditions at the southern end.

Delivery of the Palatka Daily News to subscribers will also be affected by the closure of post offices. Copies not delivered due to closures will come with the regular mail after delivery resumes.

A decision regarding mail delivery for Wednesday has not been made.

Daily News stories about Hurricane Dorian will be available online to all readers until at least Thursday. No username or password is necessary to read hurricane coverage on palatkadailynews.com or at the Palatka Daily News Facebook page.
