The Putnam County Board of Commissioners recognized Emergency Services employees during a meeting Tuesday for their life-saving efforts to help a local child.

In December, the employees helped a child from West Putnam County who had been severely burned.

County leaders honored emergency medical technician and firefighter Lauren Cava, Capt. Kevin Harris, paramedic and firefighter Matthew Lucher, Lt. Johnny Phillips, and paramedic Monica Weaver.

Five-year-old Nathan Scott is still undergoing treatment at a Texas hospital for the burns he sustained late last year. Chief Clu Wright said he received a video from Scott’s mother of the child riding a tricycle down the hospital hallways.

“He is making great progress,” Wright said Tuesday. “And she wanted to let everybody know that.”
