Sheriff’s office: Shooting believed to be drug related

Woman taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting Tuesday afternoon on Horseman Club Road in Palatka, where a woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Capt. Hancel Woods said a woman was struck in the shoulder by a bullet about 2 p.m. at 117 Horseman Club Road and taken to Putnam Community Medical Center. Woods said deputies have not released the name or age of the woman.

“It does not appear to be life-threatening in any way,” Woods said.

Woods said there were several shots fired. Deputies are searching for two black men in a small silver car.

“We’re still investigating,” Woods said. “We have reason to suspect it might be related to a drug arrest made last week.”

A sheriff’s office release said an investigation is ongoing.
