Palatka Fire Chief Keith “J.R.” Grimes is leaving the city for a newly-formed executive director of public safety position with Putnam County.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has launched a 911 textline to assist callers in emergency situations who can’t call.
Project P.L.A.Y. in Palatka has been open for two weeks but work on additional county parks hasn’t stopped.
The number of Putnam County residents who were reported in the 2020 Census increased by 1.2% in only one month.

Putnam County Emergency Services Chief Quin Romay resigned this week after more than 30 years of working for the county.
“It’s a positive thing,” Romay said Wednesday afternoon.
Two downtown Palatka business owners said Wednesday they never worried about protesters damaging their shops when people demonstrated at the Putnam County Courthouse.
Dr. George Davis, a prominent ophthalmologist who worked in Palatka for more than 30 years died following a brief illness Monday. He was 70.
The Arc of Putnam County reopened some of its day program last week, which Executive Director Kari Bates said is a way to balance safety during the COVID-19 pandemic and the social needs of its cla
