Johnny A. Brewer

Johnny Alex Brewer, 71, of Hawthorne, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 7, 2018, at his home.

Johnny, born in Florence, Ala., was a resident of Hawthorne for the past 30 years after moving from Detroit. He never let anything slow him down. He was a strong, funny man and had unconditional love for people and animals. His community was very important to him, and his tractor was, too! He was an avid NASCAR fan, proud Republican and NRA member. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Alec and Jimmy Sue Brewer, and a sister, Mary Roberts.

Surviving him are his wife, Lisa Elaine Brewer; his daughter, Alexis Brewer Stern, and her husband, Darold C. Stern II; two grandsons, Darold C. Stern III and Jackson Robert Stern; four brothers, Mike Brewer of Taylor, Mich., Gary Brewer of Wayne, Mich., Randy Barnwell of Crossville, Tenn., and Roger Brewer of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; two sisters, Susan Childs and Barb Brewer of Taylor, Mich.; and his many cherished nieces and nephews.

On Saturday, Sept 15 at the Brewer Home on Cowpen Lake, the gate will open at 11 a.m. to celebrate Johnny’s life. Guests are welcome to bring a covered dish. Lunch will be served after prayer at noon. Any contributions made to his memory will be dedicated to his grandsons. The family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love and prayers.
