Betty S. Bass
Betty Soles Bass, 79, of Palatka, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.
Coming from Jacksonville, she was a resident of Palatka since 1976. She worked in the cafeteria at Palatka High School and worked at Walmart as a greeter. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing softball and was a softball coach. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. She loved her Lord and savior with all her heart and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Soles; her mother and stepfather, Leona and Joseph Contos; one brother, Jimmy Manning Soles; and one sister, Eleanor June Norris.
Surviving are six daughters, Rose Marie Belkoffer (Ken) of Chesapeake Bay, Va., Peggy Lee Conley of Palatka, Myra Lynn Kelly (David) of Bardin, Rebecca Ann Constantineau (Jim) of Palatka, Benita Gay Lowe (Charles) of Orange Park and Pamela Jean Davis (Curtis) of Jacksonville; Pastor John Cameron (Myra), who she thought of as her only son; two brothers, William Dale Soles of Blackshear, Ga., and Darryl Richard Soles of Jacksonville; three sisters, Nancy Leona Edwards of Florence, S.C., Joann Bentizler of Townes, Ga., and Belinda Gleaton of Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. The funeral will begin 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the funeral home with Pastor John Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
