Betty S. Shuler
Betty Sheffield Shuler, 75, of San Mateo went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 1, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.
Betty Jean was born in Brooklet, Ga., and was a resident of San Mateo for the past 33 years, coming from Brooklet. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and taking care of her family. She was a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Palatka.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John A. Shuler Jr.; her parents, C.R. and Effie Sheffield; a daughter, Nancy Loveday; a son, John Aaron Stafford; and a grandson, James Franklin Perry.
Surviving are two daughters, Linette Stafford (James Perry) of Birmingham, Ala., and Cheryl Blackwelder of San Mateo; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith Lamar and Shirley Loveday; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford R. Jr. and Mary Sheffield of Bostwick, John H. Sheffield of Palatka and Johnny and Ellie Warf of Bostwick; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Robert Stumpe of Palatka and Layla and Joe Krens of Orlando; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will begin receiving friends 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Chaplain Juan Sanchez officiating. In honor and celebration of Betty Jean’s life, a video tribute will be shown. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
