Eddie L. Brown
Deacon Eddie L. “Teddy Bear” Brown, 67, of Palatka, began his eternal life Friday, July 22, 2016, at Palatka Health Care.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka and the son of the late Willie Mae Porter, Marshall E. Atkins and Eddie. D. Brown. He was a 1968 graduate of Central Academy High School and a dedicated member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon’s board and also a member of the male chorus and Choir 1. Deacon Brown retired from the state Highway Patrol after 35 years of service.
Preceding him in eternal rest other than his parents is his wife, Rosetta Brown on May 22, 2016.
To cherish his memories are stepmothers, Carolyn Atkins of Gainesville and Alma Brown of Palatka; stepfather, Rudolph Porter of Palm Coast; sisters, Paurette Porter of Jamaica, N.Y., and Theresa Lewis of Orange Park; brothers, Mark Atkins of Atlanta and Mark (Dara) Brown of St. Augustine; stepdaughters, Zethlia Jackson of Atlanta, Michelle Jackson, Melinda (Reginald) Brown and Kimberly Clark, all of Palatka; sister-in-law, Girtha Ellis of Palatka; brothers-in-law, Willie (Sheridan) Jackson of Palatka and Lewis Lembric of Citra; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 6–8:30 p.m. (today), Friday, July 29, 9–11 a.m. Saturday, July 30 at D.A. Boyd & Sons Funeral Home and from noon till the hour of service at the church. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th St. in Palatka, the Rev. Anthony Q. Robinson, pastor and eulogist.
