Marvin B. Raggins
Mr. Marvin B. Raggins, 64, of Hastings was born on Oct. 28, 1954, to the late Pernell and Elizabeth Raggins in Palatka, Fla. Marvin received his early education in Hastings, Fla., at the Walter E. Harris Elementary and High School where he excelled in academics and sports.
He furthered his education by attending Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Fla. Marvin learned how to drive trucks from his father at an early age.
In 1974, Marvin started driving trucks with his father in pulpwood and from then on he continued to drive trucks for Smith Trucking, Burkes Trucking, A&M Trucking, and Anderson Trucking until 2012. He also volunteered at the Shepherd’s Haven Food Pantry. Marvin was united in Holy matrimony to the love of his life, Vanessa Rosamarie Hackney.
Early Saturday morning, June 1, 2019, God called and Marvin answered the call to a place of peace.

The viewing will be 6–8 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, (today) at Coleman’s Mortuary Family Chapel. The Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. of Hastings, the Rev. Steffanie L. Jones, pastor. The Rev. Pernell Raggins is eulogist.
