Richard Twain Dean
Richard Twain Dean, 44, of East Palatka, passed from this life unexpectedly from natural causes Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Putnam Community Medical Center.
Born in Palatka, Twain lived in various places throughout North Central Florida, including Hilliard, Callahan and St. Cloud, before returning to Putnam County a few years ago. Over the years, Twain worked a number of places, including Publix, Disney World and at Moose Haven Retirement Community in Orange Park. He was a member of College Road Church of Christ in Palatka. An avid Gator and bluegrass music fan, Twain also enjoyed fishing, bowling, mowing, singing and playing Wheel of Fortune on his Wii. Twain was a very loving husband. Each night, Twain and Elizabeth would say to each other, “I love you to infinity and beyond … forever and forever, Amen!”
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alton and Eileen Dean and Arnold and Lura Haddock, and his stepfather, L.J. “Jack” McMath.
Twain is survived by his wife of just over a year, Elizabeth Tubbs Dean of East Palatka; his mother, Helen Haddock McMath of Palatka; his father and stepmother, Donald Lamar Dean and Brenda Dean of Lawtey; a stepdaughter, Holly Elizabeth Bencun of Madison, Ala.; two brothers, Lamar Dean and wife, Christa, of Middleburg and Patrick Aaron “Pat” Dean and wife, Dawn, of Kenansville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Lydia Tubbs of East Palatka; his grandparents-in-law, Leon and Amy Tubbs of Sebring; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
Services celebrating Twain’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at College Road Church of Christ with Brother C.L. Overturf Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The interment will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Haddock Cemetery in the Kings Ferry Community in Nassau County.
