The Florida Department of Health in Putnam County is launching the new Mobile Dental Trailer for the School-Based Sealant Program today.

The health department will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. in the Dental Clinic parking lot, 2801 Kennedy St. in Palatka.

The health department’s administrator, the dental staff and community partners – which includes Putnam County Rotarian clubs, Hitchcock’s of Interlachen, other businesses and private individuals – have been invited to attend.

Everyone will be celebrating the launch of the Sealing Sunny Smiles Mobile Dental Trailer as the agency strives to bring confident smiles and better overall health to children across Putnam, according to a health department statement.

This ceremony is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. The trailer will be open for display.

The health department is a participant of the Sealing Sunny Smiles Across Florida initiative.

The initiative is part of a comprehensive statewide oral health program to promote evidence-based prevention strategies in order to achieve optimal oral health for all Floridians.

The program is linking school-based dental services using a county hygienist approach to reach areas of high unmet dental needs, according to the statement.
