Frank Barney Harris Sr., 82, of Satsuma, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the Bailey Center in St. Augustine following a brief illness.

Frank was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County having been born in Lake Como. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict with the 8th Battalion 4th Artillery Division. He retired from Georgia Pacific in Palatka in 2002 after 28 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

Frank was a member of the Crescent City Moose Lodge 1641, where he enjoyed dancing the two-step. He loved Crescent Lake where he enjoyed spending time on the water fishing and riding in his pontoon boat. He was a rock and a treasure to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ora Lee Head Harris; seven brothers, Freeman, Clifton, Claude, Emory, John, Jesse and Corbet Harris; two sisters, Christine C. McClellan and Orine H. Woods; a granddaughter, Jennifer Harris; and a great-granddaughter, Phoenix McCarrick.

Surviving are a son, Frank Barney Harri, Jr. (Wendy) of Satsuma; a daughter, Mellissa “Skeeter” Knowles (Dago) of Crescent City; a brother, Layton Harris of Palatka; two sisters, Geraldine Bolinger (Oliver) of Crescent City and Sandra Carter of Palatka; six grandchildren, Kaye Knowles (Steve), Clifton Harris (Stephanie), Mary-Jane Hilton (Billy), Bryce Harris (Amanda), Emily Knowles and Craig Knowles Jr. (Joanne); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, December 4, at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Harris Sr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
