Three days after a Crescent City shooting disrupted the lives of three brothers, family members had a candlelight vigil for Mark Anthony Arbelo Jr. on Friday night their business, M.A. Rims & Tires.

Arbelo, 24, died at an apartment complex from a gunshot wound following a domestic dispute. One of his brothers, Angel David Arbelo, 22, was shot in the leg, but he was treated at a hospital and released.

On Friday afternoon, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Allison Waters-Merritt said the third brother, Alexander Desmond Arbelo, remained in critical condition after having been wounded in the stomach in the same shooting.

The brothers’ father, Mark Arbelo, owns the business where the vigil was held.

On Thursday, deputies in O’Fallon, Missouri, arrested 27-year-old Francisco Arroyo, who is a suspect in the shooting, Waters-Merritt said. Arroyo was arrested during a routine traffic stop, but Putnam deputies are still investigating the case, she said.

“We’re trying to get more details as to what prompted the stop,” Waters-Merritt said.

The gunfight happened about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Gunby Court and Walnut Street. The sheriff’s office said the brothers were involved in a domestic situation with occupants of an apartment on Gunby Court.

The agency said it was an isolated incident.
