East Palatka man seeks District 3 county seat

The vice president of Armstrong Roofing in San Mateo has already filed his paperwork to seek office in the 2024 election cycle.

On Friday, Les Sims submitted his intent to the Supervisor of Elections Office in Palatka. Sims will be running for the District 3 seat on the Board of County Commission next year.

Board Chairman Terry Turner is the current District 3 seat-holder, having first been elected in 2016.

Turner, who is the CEO of Armstrong Roofing, ran for a second term in 2020 and secured his seat with 23,024 votes against Democrat Joshua Mast and write-in candidate Douglas Hays, according to the Elections Office.

Currently, there are no other candidates in the running for the District 3 seat, Elections Office records show.
