A Satsuma man was arrested Sunday after deputies found a woman dead in the same residence where the man was threatening to harm himself, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

A woman was found dead at the 108 Marlin Drive home in Satsuma, but the sheriff’s office is not releasing the victim’s name or age as of Monday afternoon. However, the victim “has a non-intimate familial connection,” the sheriff’s office stated.

Christian Alan Wilkinson, 25, was charged with first-degree murder, the agency said in a press release Monday morning.

Deputies responded to the home just before 5 p.m. Sunday after a family member reportedly called the agency to report that “Wilkinson had threatened to harm himself and that there was possibly a deceased person inside the home,” the sheriff’s office stated.

When authorities arrived on the scene, Wilkinson refused to come outside of the house, the sheriff’s office said, but deputies talked to Wilkinson on a cellphone and convinced him to step outside the house.

“When Wilkinson first walked out of the residence, deputies noticed something protruding from his shirt and pants,” the press release said. “When deputies ordered Wilkinson to pull up his shirt he went back inside the residence and came out again, this time the bulge was gone.”

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Allison Waters-Merritt said Monday the object protruding from his clothing was believed to have been a gun.

Once deputies eventually secured Wilkinson in a patrol vehicle, they searched the Marlin Drive residence and found a woman with a gunshot wound dead in a bedroom, according to the press release.

This is not the agency’s first response to the residence. Earlier in that day, the sheriff’s office stated, the victim had contacted the agency’s non-emergency line to report Wilkinson had stolen her cellphone and gun.

After the victim called the non-emergency number around 3:20 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the home 20 minutes later, banged on the door and tried to call the victim again, according to the report.

“Deputies did not see any drivable vehicles at the property and there was no indication anyone was at the residence,” the press release stated. “At 4:55 p.m., dispatchers received the second call about Wilkinson threatening to commit suicide.”

Before Sunday, the agency said deputies had responded to the Marlin Drive home 10 times since October.

“Nothing was violent,” Waters-Merritt said about the calls.

In October, Wilkinson reportedly requested to be secured under the Baker Act because he had thoughts of self-harm, the sheriff’s office stated. According to the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Baker Act allows a person to be taken into a mental health facility if they pose a danger to themselves and/or others.

Wilkinson has not been arrested in Putnam County, according to jail log records. He is being held in the Putnam County Jail without bail.
