A mother and daughter in Interlachen have been accused of threatening people at knifepoint and taking a baseball bat to a car.

Samantha Lynn Devane, 52, of Interlachen was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her daughter, Interlachen resident Emily Mae Devane, 24, was arrested that same evening and charged with property damage of $1,000 or more.

The pair attacked a 24-year-old woman, a 41-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office’s incident report.

One of the victims stated Emily and Samantha pulled into the gas station parking lot, immediately got out of their vehicle and threatened all three victims. According to the sheriff’s office incident report, Emily Devane had a baseball bat and her mother carried a knife.

The two female victims told authorities they fled to the gas station entrance to “avoid conflict,” but Samantha Devane tried to follow them while holding the knife and shouting, “I’m going to kill you,” the report states.

The younger female victim and the male victim said Emily focused her aggression on them, according to the report. The younger female victim said Emily threatened to “kick her a--” before turning her attention to the man’s black Chevrolet Impala, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victims told authorities Emily began hitting the vehicle with the baseball bat and busted out the front and back windshields.

“I went into the store to review the video footage and observed through watching the surveillance footage to be true of what all three individuals had stated of the incident,” Deputy Gavin Ronquille in the incident report.

As of Monday evening, Samantha Devane was still in the Putnam County Jail on $7,500 bail. Emily Devane was released from jail Monday morning on $2,500 bail.
