The city of Palatka will begin sewer repairs on North Third Street today, according to city officials.

The work will take place at the intersection of North Third and Main streets and should be completed within 35 days, according to a press release from the city.

“This project is part of the ongoing effort to replace the aging infrastructure in the city,” the press release reads. “The subterranean infrastructure at the intersection is one of the highest-volume sewer mains in the city. Due to the age of the sewer main, the intersection has developed a depression in the road.”

The intersection will be temporarily closed as Public Works Department employees carry out the task because the issue requires extensive work, the release stated. During construction, people can access Third to Main streets via Reid Street, city officials advised.

“This project will address this and ensure the continued functionality and safety of the sewer infrastructure in the neighborhood,” the press release stated.

People who have questions about the work can contact Public Works at 386-329-0107.
