The Blue Crab Festival is today through Sunday and the city has announced the following traffic control, road closures and boating access to roadways and boat ramps:

Today, St. Johns Avenue from the Riverfront Park to the courthouse on Fifth St. will have a soft closure with traffic cones starting at 1 p.m.

Traffic will be allowed to leave the area but not re-enter once the closure begins. All vehicles must be moved from this area prior to 3 p.m.

All vehicles not removed by the deadline will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Vendors for the festival will be granted access to St. Johns Avenue at Third and Laurel streets and at S. Fifth Street and St. Johns Avenue.

Vendors will be allowed to exit St. Johns Avenue from both locations.

Access to St. Johns Avenue from Riverfront Park to the courthouse will be officially closed off with concrete barriers at the cross streets at 3 p.m.

Boats will be allowed to access the docks throughout the festival except Saturday when boats will not be allowed to enter or leave the dock after 7 p.m. due to the fireworks show that will be launched from a barge anchored in the river.

Boaters must remain a minimum of 750 feet from the barge during the fireworks show.
