St. Johns River State College will present FASFA Frenzy at three locations this fall, beginning with its Palatka campus.

The event, which is free to the public, will provide information to families interested in applying for college financial aid.

“Finances should not be a barrier to attending college,” SJR State Financial Aid Director Suzanne Evans said. “The event will provide qualified students with information necessary to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is the first and most important step in applying for financial aid.”

To apply for federal student aid, such as grants, work-study and loans, students are required to complete the FAFSA.

Potential students can base their financial information on the previous year’s tax return.

Those intending to enroll in college during the 2024-2025 academic year are encouraged to complete the form when available in December, as some funds are awarded on an as-needed basis while others are awarded first-come, first-served.

FAFSA Frenzy nights are scheduled for:

– Oct. 16 from 5–8 p.m. in Building V at the Palatka campus. The last session begins at 7:30 p.m.

– Oct. 17 from 5–8 p.m. in Building D at the Orange Park campus. The last session begins at 7:30 p.m.

– Oct. 19 from 5–8 p.m. in Building H at the St. Augustine campus. The last session begins at 7:30 p.m.

Filling out the FAFSA doesn’t obligate students to a particular career track or college.
