A child at last year’s event enjoys an uncharacteristically snowy Florida by throwing snowballs.
There will be snow in Putnam County for the second year, as a popular winter event is set to make its return Friday.
The 2023 Snow Day will take place from 4–7 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds, 118 Fairgrounds Road in East Palatka. Admission is free.
Although The Weather Channel’s prediction of 57 degrees as the high temperature, people attending the event, which the Daily News and its community partners are sponsoring, will still get to play in the snow, ride ice slides and throw some snowballs.
“Don’t miss out on our second annual Snow Day,” Daily News Publisher Jennifer Moates stated. “We look forward to seeing you at this free family event, sponsored by our Positively Putnam partners.”
Snow Day will have two snow pit areas for children, dual ice slides and an opportunity for families to meet Flurry the Snowman. Families are encouraged to bring their cameras to take pictures with Flurry.
Wristbands to jump in the bounce house are available for purchase with cash only.
Food vendors will also be in attendance, and children can also don their coolest at the face painting tent.
During last year’s Snow Day, parents said it was the first time some of their children had seen snow. Sponsors are inviting people to return for more wintery fun.

Last year’s Snow Day T-shirts are available for $10, but there is a limited quantity. This year’s Snow Day shirts are available for $20.
Purchases at the event are cash only. If people would like to purchase shirts with a credit card ahead of time, call 386-312-5223 before 2 p.m. Friday.
