Mr. Bruce W. Clarke was 92 years young at heart. He passed peacefully on November 5, 2022.

Bruce was born in Mullins, West Virginia, on September 28, 1930, to Norman and Jeanette Clarke.

He enjoyed long mountain walks in the woods with his father and brother learning about plants and animals.

He decided to join the Navy in 1948 at age 17. He began his military career on a submarine, eventually switched to submarine rescuer, and ending on a carrier.

He met his first wife, Mary, while he was stationed in Hawaii, and shortly after married her and raised 5 children together.

He traveled around the world several times. He served in the Korean war twice, and the Vietnam war three times.

He helped to organize an orphanage in Korea, and built a baseball field in Albany, GA. His big desire to serve remained with him throughout his life.

He retired from the Navy in 1973 as a Chief Petty Officer Aviation Electrician. He then went to work for Disney in Orlando, FL.  He switch careers to work for Seminole County, Fl, then again to do electrical work for ABB Brown Boveri, from which he retired.

He married his second wife, Rebecca, in 1984. They moved from Sanford, FL to Crescent City, FL and he joined the First Presbyterian Church in Crescent City, FL. He enjoyed ringing the bell and lighting the candles for years. He joined the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office as a Voluntary Public  Service Assistant for 5 years. He love building barns and fence; as well as, helping others any why he could.  He never slowed down, he is still helping people through his choice to donate his body to science.

Bruce was preceded in death by parents, first wife, Mary; three children, Gloria, Rayford, Cindy; three grandchildren; his brother Norman; and three sisters, Jean, Alice, and Joann.

Bruce is survived by his second wife, Rebecca; his children Bruce (Paqui), Norman (Donna), Rachel (Kurt), and Kathleen (John); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He requested not to have a service. Bruce is very much loved and missed by everyone who are fortunate to have know him.
