Darlene Simmons entered the sunset of life on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, Palatka.

The daughter of Murlene Norton and Robert (Irene) Kaymore Jr., she was born on Monday, May 7, 1962, in Greenville, Florida. She was a member of To God Be The Glory Holiness Church, Palatka. Darlene was formerly employed at Granger’s Café, Sonny’s Barbecue, St. Augustine Scallop House. She was the cook at God’s Little Creations. Her enjoyment and fulfillment in life was going to church, cooking, taking care of children, fishing, and using her skills to create arts & crafts.

Darlene was preceded in eternal rest by her mother, Murlene Norton; grandmother, Irene Norton; brother, Robert Kaymore; aunts, Kabirtha Bennett, Fannie White; uncles,  Robert “Bob” Norton, Clifford “Catman” Walker, Leroy Kaymore; sister-in-law, Jerry Mae Walker; “like a sister,”  Linda Monroe.

She leaves to cherish her memories: loving daughter, Latisha Simmons; father, Robert Kaymore Jr.; bonus son, Juan Davis; sister, Arlene (Willie, Jr.) Leonard; “like sisters,” Rose Scott; Sandra (Alvoid) Maples; Altharie Walls, Angela Hough; brothers, Everett Kaymore, Darryl Kaymore, Darryl Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 18 (today), at “Flagg’s Chapel of Serenity’’. Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 19, at To God Be The Glory Holiness Church, Palatka. Bishop Charles Eichelberger, Cathedral of Faith, Jacksonville, is the eulogist. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
