Joseph “Ned” Spooner, 89, of Interlachen, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022, at HCA North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.

He was born on November 20, 1933, in Bradenton Florida and in 1978 relocated from Jacksonville, Florida to Interlachen. He was an electrician by trade and worked in construction. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Union Local #177. Ned serviced his country with the U.S. Army.

Preceded in death are his parents, B.E. and Willie Earnest Spooner; brothers, Stetson Spooner, Earnest Spooner and Burl Spooner; three sisters, Eunice Turner of Salt Springs, Dorothy McNeely of Kuttawa, Kentucky and Myra Hague of Melrose, Florida; and one son-in-law, Robby Paxton.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Kevin Spooner of Interlachen; and daughter, Karen Paxton of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Joseph Paxton and his wife, Missy Paxton and Katherine Paxton and her husband, Jason Sandoval; and three great-grandchildren, Joseph Paxton, Brandon Ayers and Elena Sandoval; and one sister, Myra Hague of Melrose, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Orange Springs Cemetery, Marion County, Florida, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10 a.m. with Maurice Sterling officiating.
