Phillip Michael McDonald Jr., 51, of Palatka passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville following an extended illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Putnam County, Michael had worked as a newspaper carrier for the Palatka Daily News and attended Connect Church (formerly The Church of God of Prophecy) in Palatka. He liked hunting and fishing and riding in the woods with his father, going to the beach, singing at church and keeping track of his friends through Facebook. While homebound, he enjoyed watching the birds and playing board games,

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Michael McDonald Sr.; grandparents, Della and Grover Whitaker; grandfather, Gene McDonald; grandmother, Louise Hutcheson; grandfather, Samuel Hutcheson; and by several other friends and loved ones.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Lisa W. McDonald of Palatka; mother, Doris J. Hutcheson of Hortense, GA; step-mother, Nadavah McDonald of Palatka; daughter and companion, Adrionna McDonald and Rita Johnson of Daytona Beach; brothers, Eugene “Gene” McDonald of Palatka and Justin Hutcheson of Hortense, GA; sister, Jessica Hutcheson of Palatka; best friend, Robert Wilson Jr. of Palatka; and cousin, Rachel Alford of Palatka.

Funeral services will be held at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Allen Baggett. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home an hour before the start of the service. Burial will follow in Oak Hill East Cemetery in Palatka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to help defray Michael’s final expenses may be made to Masters Funeral Home, 3015 Crill Avenue, Palatka, FL 32177.
