Thelma Marie Howard was born on February 4, 1956, in St. Augustine, Fl. to Earline L. Tobler and Sinclair Tobler. She was the oldest of nine children. Thelma was proceeded in death by her darling son: Earl Karvesta Lewis (Peanut) and brother Maury F. Tobler.

She matriculated through St. Johns County School System. After completing her primary education, she received her CNA license and had a special love for people of all ages. She was dedicated to serving and was faithful in her career until her health would not allow her to do so.

Charles & Thelma didn’t allow distance to keep them apart, he came and found his bride. They have been united in marriage since Feb 4, 1993. The love they shared brought about commitment to each other, in sickness and in health.

Thelma received Christ and was baptized as a young child at St. Mary’s Baptist Church. She served in various ministries throughout her pilgrimage. She received the gift of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Pastor Chris and Juanita (baby sister) Washington. During the last sixteen years of her life, she was a faithful member of the Lord’s Temple City of Refuge Church, under the leadership of Bishop Thomas Cave, III who she affectionately called “Brother.”

Thelma had a special love for children and all those she met and they were considered “family”. She enjoyed dressing up and spending time with her children, grandchildren and god-children. Spending quality time with her mother was one of her favorite things and she often said she couldn’t sleep at night until she heard her mother’s voice during the day. She had a sweet and special relationship with each of her siblings and she took great pride in being the “oldest.” In her final wishes she wrote: “To my children I want y’all to know I loved from my soul, all four of you”.

Thelma leaves to cherish her sweet memories her loving husband, Charles Howard.
