The potential for a new industry to blossom in Putnam County inched forward recently but county leaders say it’s not a done deal.

Officials are warning Putnam County residents to prepare for potential flash flooding and storm surges later this week as a subtropical storm approaches Florida.

One property owner’s request to vacate an easement in front of his property has been filed in Putnam County since 2019. 

A biologist says he has a plan to bring eelgrass back to the St. Johns River, and he is scheduled Tuesday to recommend that Putnam County commissioners allocate $250,000 to help.
